February was a fantastic month here at Pennine Cycles. From the Tour de France to Mavic, Pennine frames and Orbea bikes it was a busy month which flew by very quickly!
Here are some of our February highlights
The Tour de France is coming to Yorkshire THIS summer! We are so excited the biggest bike race in the world is heading to our county and we can’t wait until July when our favourite cyclists will be riding roads which we regularly ride on.
This month we completed our Tour de France bike trio with the King of the Mountains Pennine polka-dot frame. This adds to our yellow, leaders bike and the green, points bike. Alongside the bike we created for Gary Verity CEO of Welcome to Yorkshire our TDF bikes are now complete!
Our polka-dot frame was showcased for the first time at a TDF event with the Yorkshire Asian Business Association, Welcome to Yorkshire and Barclays Bank. On the night we were grateful to have the new frame and also have our yellow Pennine bike on display. It is great to see local business embracing Le Tour and thinking outside the box for how they can get involved!
Certified with Mavic
This month Paul and Caroline received their certificates from Mavic after they attended a day course in January learning all about Mavic wheelsets and pedal systems. Caroline was the only female in attendance out of over 50 people!
In the Paper
We also had some great media coverage in February. We had a central page in local newspaper the Telegraph and Argus which you can read here. It was great to be featured in the newspaper and we are glad that the media is embracing cycle, partly thanks to the Tour coming.
Cycling is for Girls
At Pennine Cycles we love to help ladies get out cycling, one of the key things is for women to have a bike that fits them and a ladies specific saddle. Pictured is our customer Caroline who was collecting her Orbea bike. We look forward to seeing you out cycling Caroline!
We also received some Tour de France bunting via special delivery! It looks great and will go well with our TDF display.
On the last day of February we had our annual V.C.Bradford club dinner and presentation. This was a well attended event and everybody had a great time!
The winners were:
Road Race – Andy Hunt
Time Trial – Steve Ayres
Time Trial Handicap – Andy Head
Darren Ridehalgh Memorial Trophy (given to the person seen to have been the best ambassador the the club) – Steve Ayres
Club Runs – Paul Corcoran
For the first time we also gave the Nige Moore Memorial Trophy out and the winner was Steve Ayres. This was for the first placed V.C.Bradford rider in our 2013 Nige Moore Memorial Road Race. We would like to thank Nigel’s partner Angela and the family for donating the trophy. We are grateful to member Tim Curtis who arranged for the trophy to be specially commissioned, we are sure Nige would have loved it! Special thanks to Angela who presented all the winning trophies on the night too.
We are now looking forward to the 2014 Nige Moore Memorial Road Race taking place on the 29th June 2014.
So that was our quick recap of a busy and fun-filled February. What were your highlights?
