March was another busy month for us all at Pennine Cycles. We started our monthly recaps in February and here is our latest instalment. As you would expect it is full of bikes, racing, the Tour de France and some special accessories!
Our Tour de France custom built Pennine bikes were featured on road.cc this month. They are featuring Yorkshire built bikes in the lead up to Le Tour. We are honoured to have been included and happy other cycling enthusiasts love our TDF bikes as much as we do!
If you are based in Yorkshire you may have seen Harry and Amy from BBC Look North doing their tandem challenge. They rode both Yorkshire stages of the Tour de France on a tandem bike. They raised over £100,000 and conquered Holme Moss on a windy, rainy day (rather them than us). CEO of Welcome to Yorkshire, Gary Verity, was riding some of day 1 with them on our custom built Pennine TDF bike. We went to cheer them on and Paul gave the bike a quick service before they left Leeds Town Hall!
New Blog Series
We started our new blog series in February thanks to Steve Ayres. Steve is a member of V.C.Bradford and will be sharing some of his racing experiences throughout the 2014 season. In March he completed 2 Time Trials and shared his stories with us.
V.C.Bradford had some great Sunday rides throughout March. The milder spring weather has helped the boys to increase their distance and begin to look forward to the summer rides. There have been plenty of stops at Gargrave for cheesy beans on toast – A firm favourite! Pictured is Club Secretary Paul Corcoran after a sunny days ride.
If you have been in our shop recently you may have been presented with the new cycling rule book! An updated version will soon be available to buy. We recently had a custom top cap with our favourite rule number 58. if there is a top cap you require then contact us and we will order one for you.
Get on the Podium
With the Tour de France fast approaching we thought it was time to get our yellow Mavic Podium shoes in stock. These are trainers which are designed to be worn on the winning podium. We will be wearing ours on the side of the road when the TDF comes to town.
The end of March finished with Y14, Welcome to Yorkshire’s conference. Of course the emphasis was on Le Tour with Bernard Hinault and Brian Robinson in attendance. There were lots of exciting things announced which we shared last week. One of the best things is from May 2015 there will be a 3 day professional road race in Yorkshire!
So that was our quick recap from a Magnificent March. What was your favourite thing to happen in March?
