V.C.Bradford Club Dinner 2016

In February we held the annual V.C.Bradford cycling club dinner.  As proud sponsors of the cycling club it is always nice for club members to get together and have a meal at Windmill Court in Bradford.  We also spend some of the evening recognising the achievements of different club members over the previous 12 months.

Like last year we had a great turnout, it’s nice to see some of our longstanding members attending as well as newer members.  We always welcome spouses, partners, friends and family members to join in the fun too!  It’s good to celebrate the past season as well as being a great time to look ahead for the coming cycling year.

Prize Presentation

The prizes were handed out by our own Paul and Sandra alongside Angela Farrell who is the partner of Nige Moore one of our club members who sadly died.  Angela and her family donated a trophy in his name to be handed out to the first V.C.Bradford rider to finish in the Nige Moore Memorial Road Race.  This year the trophy went to Steve Ayres.

Steve also won 2 other trophies on the night.  He was the recipient of the Road Race trophy for his achievements and results in various road races throughout the season.  He was also the winner of the Time Trial trophy having competed in a number of time trials in the 2015 season and getting some very good times.

The Time Trial Handicap trophy was a joint winner – This is the first time this has ever happened.  On our chosen night both Darren Caines and Gary Franklin got exactly the same handicap time over a 10 mile time trial distance!

The final trophy was the Darren Ridehalgh Memorial trophy.  This was donated by the parents of Darren who sadly died when he was 21.  The trophy is given to the person who has been a great ambassador for the club.  This year the winner was Caroline Towers.  Caroline has organised the Nige Moore Memorial Road Race and has been a member of the club for a number of years, she actively promotes the club and helps with lots of things behind the scenes!
