Earlier this year we were selected to be part of the Small Business 100 in the run up to Small Business Saturday. As part of this inclusion we were invited to showcase our Pennine Cycles shop at a private event in London being held at the Treasury Dome. During the day we also visited Downing Street and met the Chancellor George Osbourne.
We filmed the day, click here to watch our vlog.
A Day Out
The day began with an early morning train for Sandra and Caroline. We arrived at the Treasury and began to set up our stall we were sharing with Shoo Social. Once we were set up we headed for a quick tour and photograph on Downing Street.
Then it was back to the Treasury Dome, which was recently featured in Spectre, the latest James Bond film. It began to get busy with people who worked in the Treasury and also on Downing Street. We met some great people and was good to be able to showcase ourselves as a Yorkshire business. It was very busy and we had a great time.
The Chancellor, George Osbourne, then came to the dome to visit the stallholders, of which there were about 20. He came to visit us and we had a quick chat about cycling, the Tour de France and the potential of Yorkshire holding the World Championships. He then spoke to the crowd about the importance of Small Business Saturday.
The day came to an end shortly after. We packed away and headed to the after party which was held at the Salieri restaurant on The Strand, another independent business. Here we had delicious canapés and we were treated to some wonderful opera singing as you can see on our video.
It was soon time to head back onto the train and get back to Yorkshire ready for Small Business Saturday the next day which was another successful event where we also showcased other businesses, had homemade cookies and celebrated Small Business Saturday!
