Pennine Cycles are proud to make our steel, handbuilt Pennine road frames at our premises, located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK. Every frame is custom-made to each customers individual specification and there are lots of additions which can be made to make your bike unique. All of our frames are made with either Columbus or Reynolds steel tubing. Steel bicycle frames are proven to last, which means they are great for all weather conditions and they are also lightweight to make your riding more pleasurable
We build every frame-set from scratch so this means you really can have the bike of your dreams, we generally use Columbus tubing on our frames but if you prefer Reynolds tubing we can also build your bike using that - Afterall it is your individual bike we are making! You can also make selections including the size and reach length, bottle cages, the inclusion of mudguards, pannier racks and plenty more. You can also choose the colour of your bike and have more than one colour if you wish. We also provide individual transfers for each bike and you can add on your name as well. As they are made individually each frame takes 8-10 week from start to completion.
We have been building steel frames since 1946 and originally were making them under the Whitaker and Mapplebeck (cycles) Limited brand name. In 1952 we began use the Pennine brand on our bikes, at this time many of our frames included individual artwork which were hand painted by May Mappleback and were picturesque scenes. We continue to have customers contact us from all over the world who have Pennine frames which they would like us to restore and their bikes are still going strong, often they just need some updating. We are happy to conduct Pennine bike renovations to make your original bike feel up to date.
Our master frame builder has been making frames for over 40 years. His skills, expertise and experience are used to build your ideal bicycle. We continue to keep up to date with modern styles with our cutting-edge unique frames.
Pennine frames are an ideal bike for enthusiastic riding, commuting and they are perfect for winter for the added mudguards.
We can also create our Pennine bikes for corporate companies. To celebrate the Tour de France coming to Yorkshire in 2014 we built this Pennine bike for Welcome to Yorkshire CEO Gary Verity.
Our Pennine bikes are ridden and known all over the UK and the world, we are happy to send your new frame to wherever you live. Ideally we love for you to come into our Yorkshire, UK shop but if this isn't possible we can get everything we need from you via telephone and/or email.
